The Centre for Ilorin Studies, University of Ilorin, will hold its 3rd Annual Public Lecture and presentation of a Book of Readings this Thursday (December 17, 2015) at 10.00a.m.
A statement by the Director of the Centre, Prof. Z. I. Oseni, indicated that the Lecture, which holds at the University Auditorium, is entitled “The Story of an Autochthonous Scholarly Network: Ilorin and the Making of Modern Ulama in Nigeria”. The Book of Readings, which is the second in the series, is titled “Ilorin as a Beacon of Learning and Culture in West Africa”.
The Guest Lecturer is Prof. Amidu Sanni of the Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, while the Chief Presenter of the book is Mallam Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN).
According to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), will be the Chief Host while the Managing Director of Yolas Consultants, Engr. Y. O. Shagaya, will be the Chairman of the occasion. Also, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari is the Royal Father of the Day while the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Ali Ahmad, is the Special Guest of Honour.
Members of the University community and the general public are cordially invited.
