The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates Association is to honour 10 of its members for their achievements and contributions to the development of the association.
In a statement issued by Alhaji Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the National Public Relations Officer, said that the fourth in the series of the honours’ day will hold in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, on February 15.
Those to be honoured include the Managing Director of Accenture Nigeria, Niyi Yusuf; the Managing Director of Niger River Basin, Engineer Niyi Afolayan; a Judge of the Oyo State High Court, Justice Ganiyu Sunmonu; six Ph.D. holders; and an entrepreneur.
Balogun said the theme of this year’s event is: “Leadership Imperatives: Islamic Perspective.”
Balogun said Prof. Lanre Yusuf Badmus of the University of Ilorin would speak on the theme of the event while the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), of the UNILORIN, Prof. Bayo Lawal, would be the chairman of the occasion.
Speaking on the uniqueness of the UNIFEMGA Honours Day, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, its National President, said those to be honoured were carefully selected and have excelled themselves in various fields of human endeavour.
Egbewole said the two-day event would also serve as a mini-reunion of members as there would be a National Executive Committee meeting of the association, to be hosted by Malam Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN).
Since 2011 when the maiden edition of the National Honours’ Day started, 62 members have so far been honoured and rewarded for their landmark achievements.
